HP Pavilion gaming laptop 15-cx0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi! I have HP Pavilion gaming laptop 15-cx0xxx and I've purchased HP USB-C Dock G5, 5TW10AA#ABB and when connected, it is not charging the laptop and the power button doesn't seem to function properly that I have to open the laptop lid to switch on the monitor. Please advice how to solve this issue and if I bought the wrong docking station, please advise what is the proper model for video, data and power capabilities

What is your HP Pavilion gaming laptop 15-cx0xxx ? Normally it has 150W or 200W charger. Your USB-C Gen 5 dock has 100W delivery therefore it won't charge your machine.

You need a higher wattage rating dock for your machine. HP has an HP Thunderbolt™ Dock 230W G2 this MAY work on your machine.  The reason I say MAY because it is very expensive, I have not tested it.

Hi Thanks for your prompt reply. I've just checked the power cords. The dock station charger is 120W and my laptop charger is 150W. If that so, should I try another dock station and which one is compatible please ?

Sorry, none of the following docks are compatible with your machine
