I bouoght my hp laptop 3 days ago, and I’m encountering consistently low 1% FPS across multiple games. in cs2, my fps is more than 300 but %1 low fps is just 90. in rdr2 my fps is 80 but my %1 low fps is less than 30.

Hi @imthEMO,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Congrats on your new OMEN MAX 16—seriously powerful gear! So it's fair to be concerned about low 1% FPS drops right after getting it.
Quick FYI:
1% low FPS shows how bad the worst moments get—basically, it's the average of the slowest frames. Even with high average FPS, low 1% numbers mean stutters or uneven gameplay.
1. Background Processes / Bloatware
- Pre-installed apps or updates running in the background can cause stutters.
- 🔍 Check: Open Task Manager > Startup and disable non-essential apps.
2. Power Settings
- Laptops sometimes default to "Balanced" mode.
- ⚙️ Fix: Go to Control Panel > Power Options, set to High performance or Ultimate Performance (if available).
3. Thermal Throttling
- The system may slow down under heat.
- 🔍 Check: Use HWMonitor or OMEN Gaming Hub to check CPU/GPU temps under load. Ideal: GPU < 85°C, CPU < 95°C.
4. GPU Driver Issues
- Outdated or buggy drivers often cause stuttering.
- ⚙️ Fix: Update your GPU drivers from NVIDIA GeForce Experience or AMD Adrenalin (depending on your model).
5. Mismatched Game Settings
- Ultra settings (especially in RDR2) can hammer performance.
- 🎮 Fix: Try using DLSS/FSR, lower Texture Streaming, and disable V-Sync. Start with medium settings and scale up.
6. Windows Game Mode and GPU Scheduling
- 🛠️ Try: Toggle Game Mode and Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling via Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and Graphics Settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
