Hi,

If the Camera app shows 0xA00F4244 NoCamerasAreAttached and the camera does not appear anywhere in Device Manager, even after enabling Show hidden devices, then Windows is not detecting the camera hardware at all.

Please try these steps:

  1. Check for a physical webcam privacy shutter or camera privacy key on the keyboard. Some HP laptops can disable the camera at hardware level.

HP guide for “We can’t find your camera”:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_3940431-3679358-16

  1. Open Settings > Privacy & security > Camera and make sure camera access is enabled.

Microsoft camera troubleshooting:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/camera-doesn-t-work-in-windows-32adb016-b29c-a928-0073-5...

  1. In Device Manager, check:
    • Cameras
    • Imaging devices
    • Universal Serial Bus controllers
    • Unknown devices

Then click:

Action > Scan for hardware changes

  1. Run Windows Update again, including optional driver updates.
  2. Install BIOS, chipset, and camera-related drivers from HP Support for your exact product number. Do not search only by the general laptop name.

HP driver page:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops

  1. If a camera device appears later, but the driver is wrong, try the generic Microsoft driver:
Device Manager > Camera > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > USB Video Device

Microsoft also lists the USB Video Device driver as a possible workaround for camera driver problems:
https://support.microsoft.com/id-id/windows/hardware/camera/camera-app-shows-error-0xa00f4244-nocame...

  1. Perform a power reset:
    • Shut down the laptop.
    • Disconnect the charger and all external devices.
    • Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
    • Reconnect the charger and start the laptop.

HP power reset guide:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1997208-1551050-16

If the camera still does not appear in Device Manager, not even as an unknown USB device, then this is likely a hardware detection issue: disconnected webcam cable, failed webcam module, display cable issue, or a BIOS/firmware detection problem.

Please share the exact HP model/product number, not only the Windows version, because the correct camera driver and privacy-key behavior depend on the specific model.
