Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r0000 (76T08AV)

My HP Victus 16 display keeps flickering constantly. The problem occurs immediately after powering on the laptop and also persists in the BIOS. An independent repair service has diagnosed the issue as a defective motherboard.. Another one diagnosed the issue as a broken heatpipe and a broken cpu fan. One of them says it will take 2 weeks, the other one says it will take 4-6 weeks, and they both say it will cost me more than 400€. So, I would like to know how can I get help from an official HP technician. I really don't trust any independent technician after 2 different diagnoses. I am currently living in Austria. My warranty expired 5 months ago.  Thank you so much for your help in advance.

Hi @tettosama

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

We understand your concern. Since the display flickering begins immediately at startup and continues even while the system is in the BIOS, the behavior points to a hardware-related condition rather than a Windows, driver, or software issue. Given that you have received two different diagnoses from independent repair providers, it is completely reasonable to seek an official HP evaluation before proceeding with any repair.

For your HP Victus 16-r0000, the most reliable next step is to have the notebook inspected by an authorized HP service provider. HP technicians can perform model-specific diagnostics and determine whether the issue is related to the display assembly, display cable, cooling components, system board, or another internal hardware component.

Please try the following before arranging service:

Connect an external monitor or TV using HDMI.

  • If the external display works normally while the notebook screen continues to flicker, the issue may be related to the notebook display panel, display cable, or related components.
  • If the external display also shows flickering, the issue may involve internal hardware such as the graphics subsystem or system board.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI:

  • Power off the notebook.
  • Power it on and repeatedly tap the Esc key.
  • Select F2 - System Diagnostics.
  • Run the available component tests, especially the display and system tests.
  • Note any failure IDs that may be generated.

Ensure that the air vents are clear and verify whether the system becomes unusually warm during operation, as cooling-related hardware issues can sometimes contribute to display abnormalities.

Because the symptoms are present in the BIOS environment, an inspection by an HP-authorized technician would be the recommended path if the issue persists.

To locate the nearest HP service center in Austria, please use the HP Service Center Locator:

Please call the service center before visiting to confirm availability and service options for your model.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
