Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

So recently, I noticed a weird bump above my keyboard. It feels like more smaller bumps are forming as time passes. Could it be the battery bulging? It is also accompanied by a weird fan noise, it used to sound way different than it sounds like now. I have also noticed increased temperatures and my game (valorant and fortnite) randomly start freezing and have lots of input delay, but it fixes itself in a few seconds. Its only 8 months old btw.

Hi @MessiGoated,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a hardware issue with your Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-Fa0000 (680A4AV). The presence of a weird bump above the keyboard could indeed indicate a bulging battery, which is a serious concern and should be addressed immediately.

Here's what you can do:

  • Stop Using the Laptop: Given the potential hazard of a bulging battery, it's crucial to stop using the laptop immediately to avoid any risk of damage or injury.
  • Check the Battery: If you're comfortable doing so (otherwise, seek professional help), you can carefully inspect the battery compartment to see if it appears swollen or bulging. If it does, do not attempt to remove or handle it yourself; instead, contact HP support or take it to an authorized service center for assistance.
  • Address the Fan Noise: The weird fan noise you're hearing could be related to the increased temperatures you've observed. Overheating can cause the fan to work harder, leading to unusual sounds. This could also be a symptom of a larger issue affecting the laptop's cooling system.
  • Backup Your Data: Before sending your laptop in for repairs, make sure to back up any important files or data you have stored on it. This ensures that you won't lose any valuable information during the repair process.
  • Avoid Gaming: Until the issues with your laptop are resolved, it's best to avoid using it for gaming or any other demanding tasks that could exacerbate the problem.
