Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s1000 (90P69AV)
Linux

I am running the latest BIOS F15 for this model Victus 16.1 s1000. I am running a Linux system (vanilla kernel  6.14.7). There is a bug in the BIOS manifesting as a missing ACPI symbol:

ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PCI0.LPCB.BAT1], AE_NOT_FOUND (20240827/psargs-332)

How do I report this bug to HP so they can fix the BIOS?

Hi @bnicolae,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for providing the ACPI error details.

While we appreciate the technical information you've shared, it is important to note that HP validates and tests BIOS releases for the operating systems officially supported on the product. For the Victus 16-s1000 series, BIOS validation is performed primarily with the supported Microsoft Windows operating system and drivers.

Since you are running Linux with a custom kernel version, HP's support for Linux is limited, and we are unable to confirm whether this ACPI message is caused by the BIOS itself, a Linux kernel interpretation of the ACPI tables, or an interaction between the two. As a result, we do not have a formal process for investigating Linux-specific ACPI issues.

We recommend the following:

  1. Ensure you are running the latest BIOS available for your model. If BIOS F.16 is available for your unit, please update to that version and check whether the behavior persists.
  2. If possible, test the system under a supported Windows installation to determine whether any related errors or hardware issues are present there.
  3. Check with the Linux distribution or kernel community to see whether the issue has already been identified and addressed in a newer kernel release.

Thanks for being part of the HP Community!
