Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My WIFI has always been at about 3 bars including the little dot. But I noticed recently it is now at two and I believe it is causing me problems when playing games. I've tried researching and fixing it on my own, but it only improves for a short amount of time. From what I can remember, I've tried clearing DNS, changing the properties for the WIFI adapter, trying to see if I can turn off "allow device to turn off to save power" but I can't seem to find the option at all, and applying manual DNS settings. I can't seem to find a permanent fix, help will be appreciated, please and thank you.

If your notebook has the Mediatek MT7921 Wi-Fi adapter, the only suggestion I can offer would be to update the Wi-Fi driver to the latest version HP currently has:

Version 3.0.1.1337

sp173639.exe

Have you tested Laptop WIFI signal strength/stability at various distances from the router?

Maybe you are using the Laptop in a dead zone or a weak router signal area of your home.

The allow device to save power setting should be in Device Manager>Network adapter. Properties>Power management.

Or check the Advanced Tab for additional WIFI adapter settings.

I have just tried that, it didn't fix.

I have always been across the house and didn't have issues until recently, and there are absolutely no options for that. No power management tab or option in advanced.

Try @Paul_Tikkanen's driver update if you have not done this.

Maybe it's time for a new, more powerful, router??

Or you might need to upgrade to a higher ISP bandwidth package.

I've upgraded to a very fast (up to 1000 Mbps) downlink offered by my ISP. My home WIFI connections, using a very good retail router, are very fast and stable.

How do I do the driver update?

@Paul_Tikkanen  provided a direct MediaTek WIFI driver download link in his response.

Click on Paul's link to save the driver to your PC's download folder.

Go to the download folder.

Run the .exe file to update your PC's WIFI adapter.
