My modem’s internet speed is working correctly at 100 Mbps.
When I connect my laptop using Wi-Fi, I get only 1 Mbps speed.
But when I connect the same laptop using an Ethernet cable, I get the full 100 Mbps speed.
This issue has been happening for about one week.
Please provide a solution for this problem.

Hi @Sivakumar32

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I am sorry for the frustration you are facing with your Victus by HP laptop’s Wi‑Fi speed dropping to 1 Mbps while Ethernet delivers the full 100 Mbps. I understand how disappointing it feels when everything else works fine but wireless performance suddenly slows down.

I appreciate the effort you’ve already made in testing both wired and wireless connections.

Here are steps you can try to restore proper Wi‑Fi speed:

Step 1: Forget and Reconnect to Wi‑Fi

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi‑Fi.
  • Select your network, click “Forget.”
  • Reconnect by entering the password again.

Step 2: Update Wireless Drivers

Step 3: Change Wi‑Fi Band

  • If your router supports dual‑band, connect to the 5 GHz network instead of 2.4 GHz.
  • 5 GHz provides faster speeds and less interference.

Step 4: Reset Network Settings

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
  • Select “Network reset.”
  • Restart your laptop and reconnect to Wi‑Fi.

Step 5: Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App

  • Install or open the HP App from the Microsoft Store.
  • Select your laptop > Device Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Run the scan to automatically detect and resolve wireless connectivity issues.

Step 6: Check Router Placement and Channel

  • Place the router in an open area, away from walls or appliances.
  • Log into your router settings and change the Wi‑Fi channel to reduce interference.

These steps should help bring your wireless speed closer to the full 100 Mbps that your modem provides.
