Hi @octo-hacked, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your GPU is being stopped by Windows and updating the drivers didn't help, follow these steps:
Perform a Clean Installation of GPU Drivers
1. Uninstall the current drivers completely
* Open Device Manager → Expand Display adapters
* Right-click your GPU (NVIDIA/AMD) → Click Uninstall device
* Check Delete the driver software for this device → Click Uninstall
2. Restart your laptop
3. Download the latest drivers
* Go to the NVIDIA/AMD website → Search for your exact GPU model
* Download the latest driver
4. Install the new driver in "Custom Mode"
* Select Perform a Clean Installation
* Finish installation and restart your laptop
Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings → Update & Security → Check for updates
- Install any pending updates and restart
Reset BIOS
- Turn off the laptop → Press F10 repeatedly while turning it on to enter BIOS
- Press F9 to load defaults → Press F10 to save & exit
Check NVIDIA Control Panel / AMD Settings
- If GPU is still disabled, open NVIDIA Control Panel / AMD Radeon Software
- Check if your GPU is listed and enabled
Test in Safe Mode
- Restart your laptop in Safe Mode
- Press Win + R → Type msconfig → Go to Boot tab
- Check Safe boot → Minimal → Click OK and restart
- Check Device Manager again in Safe Mode
- If the GPU is still disabled, reinstall the drivers in Safe Mode
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
