Hi @octo-hacked, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your GPU is being stopped by Windows and updating the drivers didn't help, follow these steps:

Perform a Clean Installation of GPU Drivers
1. Uninstall the current drivers completely
* Open Device Manager → Expand Display adapters
* Right-click your GPU (NVIDIA/AMD) → Click Uninstall device
* Check Delete the driver software for this device → Click Uninstall

2. Restart your laptop

3. Download the latest drivers
* Go to the NVIDIA/AMD website → Search for your exact GPU model
* Download the latest driver

4. Install the new driver in "Custom Mode"
* Select Perform a Clean Installation
* Finish installation and restart your laptop

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityCheck for updates
  • Install any pending updates and restart

Reset BIOS

  • Turn off the laptop → Press F10 repeatedly while turning it on to enter BIOS
  • Press F9 to load defaults → Press F10 to save & exit

Check NVIDIA Control Panel / AMD Settings

  • If GPU is still disabled, open NVIDIA Control Panel / AMD Radeon Software
  • Check if your GPU is listed and enabled

Test in Safe Mode

  1. Restart your laptop in Safe Mode
    • Press Win + R → Type msconfig → Go to Boot tab
    • Check Safe boot → Minimal → Click OK and restart
  2. Check Device Manager again in Safe Mode
  3. If the GPU is still disabled, reinstall the drivers in Safe Mode

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
