Your camera is reporting that it is blocked or turned off by a switch button on your device . Please unblock it or turn the switch on to use it. My camera is not working in laptop.

Hello,

Check for Physical Switch: Some laptops have a physical switch or button that disables the camera for privacy reasons. Look around your laptop (on the sides, near the keyboard, or the top of the screen) for a camera toggle switch and make sure it is in the "on" position.  MyFordBenefits

Check Camera Settings:

Open the Device Manager on your laptop.
Look for Imaging Devices and see if your camera is listed.
Right-click on your camera and check if it’s disabled. If it is, select Enable Device.
Check Privacy Settings: On Windows:

Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
Ensure that Allow apps to access your camera is enabled.
Check if the specific app you're trying to use the camera with has access.
Update Camera Drivers:

In Device Manager, right-click on your camera under Imaging Devices and select Update Driver.
You can also visit the laptop manufacturer's website to download the latest camera drivers.
Check for Software Conflicts:

Ensure no other programs (e.g., Skype, Zoom, or other camera apps) are using the camera.
Try restarting your laptop to release any locked resources.

Best Regards

The Envy x360 camera worked then an update happened and now it doesn't.  The light comes on.  The camera then reports blocked or turned off.  This is a brand-new PC.  Just got it.

I have tried over the past few hours everything that has been suggested to me without success. The one area that remins is as follows:

Check Physical Switch: My laptop does not have a physical switch. There is no on/off slider switch or anything that looks like what has been identified in the support pages. There are only ports along the side edges.

Check the keyboard function key: Where the support pages indicate the camera key should reside, I have instead a "PRT SC". There is no button with a camera icon

So, it turns out there is a switch.  It is SO TINY and blends in with the bezel right above the camera lense that YOU CAN'T SEE it.  It is also very hard to feel it.  It moves way to easily and so you hardly know you moved it.  A really DUMB design.  It should be an OBVIOUS switch so you know if someone turned on your camera without you knowing it.  Wow.  Why would HP not do a better job with this?

Another DUMB design is the Copilot button.  I WANT THE CTRL button back!  Copilot is so easy to get from the screen or even from the tray.

Hi @Steve-In-Texas ,

We apologize for the inconvenience. The issue seems to persist even after attempting the troubleshooting steps mentioned above.

This might require one-on-one interaction via remote assistance to fix the issue over the phone.
