Hi @silico,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for the detailed info. Since your HP 15.6" Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (7C406AV) is still under warranty and you're facing a battery issue where:

  • The battery is stuck at 49%
  • A laptop doesn’t work without being plugged in
  • HP diagnostics (F2) can't measure battery capacity
  • You're located in Morocco with no nearby HP center

Here’s what you can do:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears temporary hardware states:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Unplug the power adapter.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Plug the adapter back in and turn on the laptop.

2. Uninstall Battery Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Batteries.
  3. Right-click and uninstall:
    • Microsoft AC Adapter
    • Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
  4. Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the drivers automatically.

3. BIOS Restore:

  1. Shut down the computer, and keep the charger plugged in
  2. Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
  3. Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

3. Run HP Battery Check

Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows:

If the tool still can’t read the battery, it likely confirms a hardware fault.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
