OMEN MAX 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-ak0000 (A4UX7AV)

Ok.

Product number : BE6V5EA#ABF

Serial number : <Please do not include the product serial number or any private information>

Now the pc dont really work anymore.  Sometimes I can turn it on but it would crash while playing games with no error code. Juste the event observer says a critical "perfdiag logger" error occurs and forced it to shut down. I cant always turn the PC on because of error 1552 and 1512 happening everydays. The PC have massive stutters when I : have an achievement, turn sound up/down, luminosity up/down, in fact any thing other than the game being display would lead to a massive fps lost.

Every stutters in game leads to my GPU being force to wait. It goes frome 2.3gHz to 800mHz during stutters dans to 0.920V to 0.660V. It happens on every games but is constant on some of them such as Valheim, which is barely playable at some point. Every drivers have being reinstall multiple time with dedicated programmes such as DDU. Windows have been reinstall the 03/09/26 after a month full of the exact same bugs, did not make any difference, I juts lose my time and money. So gaming is basically a thing this laptop cant do. There is no thermal throttling, the pc never went above 80°c. There is no power plan set on eco or some, everything is in unleashed, even parameter such as PCIe profiles are set to "desactivate eco".  My BIOS which have like 3 settings in it dont show anything I can change about power. Only boot up options and some security such as TPM2 or secureboot. I've updated everything multiple times. I uninstalled all unecessary telemetry from the computer. I debloated it. I desactivated every programms in background, no Nvidia app, no xbox gamebar, no steam overlay, no discord overlay, nothing, I tried installing the stock drivers from HP, it juste got worse with more crashes. I have blackscreen, either right  after BIOS start or during gaming. It juste turn black, freeze for 10 sec, and go back to windows home screen.  My optimus is ALWAYS set to discrete, my iGPU is never used in any process.

Atp I juste feel cursed. Is there any hope it ends someday?

Hi  @Sidiano13

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Thank you for sharing such a detailed explanation of what you've been experiencing. I can see that you've already put in a significant amount of time troubleshooting this issue, including clean driver installations, Windows reinstallation, BIOS and driver updates, disabling background applications, and testing different performance settings.

Based on everything you've described, this does not sound like a typical software configuration issue, and I'd like to gather a few additional details so we can better understand what may be happening.

To help further, could you kindly confirm:

  • Which BIOS version is currently installed?
  • Do the black screen events occur only while gaming, or can they also happen during normal Windows use?
  • Have you ever run the HP Hardware Diagnostics tests for the GPU, memory, and storage components? If so, were there any failure IDs?
  • Are you using the original HP power adapter that shipped with the laptop?
  • When Event Viewer reports Error 1512 or 1552, could you kindly share the full event details or screenshots?

Based on your description, The significant GPU clock and voltage drops during stutters may indicate a power delivery, firmware, or hardware-level issue rather than a driver problem and the black screen behaviour followed by a return to the Windows desktop could suggest the graphics driver is crashing and recovering.

Repeated issues after a clean Windows installation typically point away from software corruption.

A few specific troubleshooting steps you can give it a try :

  1. Perform an HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics test:
    • Power off the notebook.
    • Turn it on and repeatedly tap F2.
    • Run the System Extensive Test, paying particular attention to the GPU, memory, and SSD tests.
  2. Reset BIOS defaults:
    • Enter BIOS Setup using F10 at startup.
    • Load BIOS defaults.
    • Save and exit.
  3. Disable any CPU or GPU overclocking, undervolting, or third-party tuning utilities if present, including MSI Afterburner, ThrottleStop, Intel XTU, or similar tools.
  4. If available, test one game with the network disconnected and all overlays completely removed to rule out external software interactions.

I hope this helps.

Hey,

Im using the latest version of the BIOS, I dont have the PC with me actually, i cant tell which one this is exactly but it the last in date.

Black screens occurs either while : boot up (after the bios logo shows and before windows shows), boot down (windows stopting screen shows up at about 5fps and the pc take about 5mn to turn down), gaming (black screen, huge lags, then closes the game). Huge fps drops occurs on digital audio workstation (Samplitude Suite 2026) but no blackscreen were observed.

I use the original adaptater that have been shipped with the PC.

I have thousands of 1512 and 1552 errors, I can share you some :

I joined a picture of the results of UEFI tests.

I do not overclock/underclock overvolt/undervolt any of my processors. Everything runs on defaults settings from OGH. I have uninstalled third party software. Even Nvidia App is uninstalled. Only OGH remains.

My BIOS is already in default settings.

I have removed every overlays I can, only Windows gamebar stands because I cant desactivate it.

What to try next?

Seems I cant send picture in here. I can just attest I did a complete extended UEFI test, everything comes out successull.

Only battery control says "OK" instead of "success" as the others and is written orange and not green

Hi @Sidiano13,

Thank you for providing those additional details and for confirming that you have already completed extensive troubleshooting, including a clean Windows installation, BIOS reset, HP diagnostics, driver reinstallation, and testing without third-party software.

Based on everything you've reported, this is unlikely to be a normal software or driver issue.

Because the problem:

  • Occurs outside of gaming,
  • Happens during startup and shutdown,
  • Persists after Windows reinstallation,
  • Continues with default BIOS settings and the original HP adapter,

the next area of concern would be hardware-level components, such as:

  • GPU ,System board (motherboard), Power delivery circuitry or Firmware communication between hardware components.

At this stage, to have this reviewed for advanced diagnostics and possible hardware service options and If the notebook is under warranty, To get you the best assistance, we need to take this conversation to a private chat.
