Welcome to our HP Community forum!
On your Victus 15-fa0000, the webcam does not use a special HP driver. It is a standard UVC camera, so Windows should install its driver automatically. That’s why you only see HID/touchpad drivers listed on HP’s driver update site.
To restore the webcam:
1. Re-detect the camera:
Right-click Start → Device Manager.
Expand Cameras (or Imaging devices in some builds).
If you see your webcam, right-click → Uninstall device.
Then restart the laptop → Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
If you don’t see it listed, go to the top of Device Manager → Action → Scan for hardware changes.
2. Check Windows Update:
Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update → Check for updates.
Windows should pull down the latest driver for the webcam automatically.
3. HP Support Assistant:
Open/use HP Support Assistant and run updates -sometimes -for reason(s) opaque to me, HP pushes webcam firmware/patches this way.
4. Camera app test:
Press Windows key + S, type Camera, and open the app.
If it shows video, the driver is working fine.
Tip: If the camera still doesn’t reappear in Device Manager, make sure it isn’t disabled in BIOS/UEFI settings (some HP models have a BIOS toggle for the webcam), and check that the camera privacy switch (if present above the display) isn’t set to “off.”
Kind Regards,
