I would like to know if my laptop (HP ENVY 17m-ce1013dx) is compatible with an external GPU. I would like the versatility of this laptop but still be able to game while at home, without having to get a whole new computer.

Hello @cranberry_23
If you look up the specs, it says the ports are only USB-C port which is only USB and DP capable. No Thunderbolt.
Im sorry.
Your specs... https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06429951

My next question would be why do I have the Thunderbolt logo above one of the USB 3.1 and the USB-C ports? Also my laptop does not have the same internal GPU as the hp specs show. I got this computer at Best Buy if that helps

Not sure. All I can do is go by what HP puts in their pages. But its been known to be incorrect before.
Could you open the HP Support Assistant and give me the Product number it shows?
Or you can also at power-on, tap the F1 key to open the info menu before Windows loads.
