HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 (2P6B6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

i have a HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2055ne (6M7U8EA) and recently i started experiencing random fps drops every couple of minutes (fps always drops below 20 fps for 20-30 seconds then goes back up to normal), i tried updating to the latest nvidia drivers, that didnt work so i rolled back to a more stable one(that did not work aswell), i changed my thermal paste and my cpu temp is 70-80c, i disabled all my background processes(except for Microsoft's services), but none of that worked. can an expert please help me i dont know what to do.

@zzz1111, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Power Settings

Set your laptop to High Performance mode in Power Options.

Make sure it’s plugged in (not running on battery).

Temperature Check

Your CPU is at 70-80°C, which is okay, but check your GPU temp too.

Background Programs

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and see if anything is using too much CPU, memory, or disk.

Close any unnecessary apps.

Battery & Power Supply

Check your battery health in Windows settings and make sure your charger is working properly.

V-Sync or G-Sync

Turn off V-Sync in game settings or the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Try disabling G-Sync if enabled.

Disk Health

Make sure your SSD/HDD has enough free space (at least 15-20% free).

Run Disk Cleanup and check for errors with CHKDSK.

Test Different Games

Does it happen in all games, or just one? If it’s only one, it could be that game having issues.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
