OMEN X by HP Laptop 15-dq0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there! Several months ago I had bought this omen laptop and upon installing all drivers, I install omen command center and it asks to install hp system event utility so I can properly use the second screen. I'm also using hp support assistant and I also tried manually downloading everything from the hp support AND downloading all drivers with sdi lite, driver booster and drivermax. No matter what I try the result is the same: my secondary screen gets flipped and if I try to rotate it it just rotates back immediately.  I tried Win 10 build 1903 and 1909. I don't have a recovery partition so I only tried clean installs using Microsoft's media creation tool. Touchscreen also is flipped and it works on the wrong screen as well. I tried tablet pc settings, calibration, disabling Windows autorotation and probably lots of other things I don't remember right now. I'm all out of ideas.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset using HP recovery partition image this will put the computer back to original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

it's really irritating that the default response is to reinstall the OS.  This makes me think you don't know how to resolve the actual issue, which sounds like the user accidentally hit ctrl-up arrow or something like that https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/fix-sideways-screen-computer

@dragos22

Thank you for posting back.

The Ctrl+Alt+Arrow keys will let you change the screen orientation to landscape or portrait mode.

  • Are you still experiencing the same issue? If yes could you be please share the picture of the flipped screen?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

is your second screen a tablet? then first lock the screen in the tablet so it cant rotate, then connect it to your laptop.
