HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0130ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I go into games, the processor frequency drops and stays at 0.79, but when I turn off charging, the frequency increases, and when I insert it again, the frequency increases more, but then drops again. At the same time, in games, the processor is loaded no more than 30%

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP HP Gaming Pavilion Laptop the processor frequency drops

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.

If issue still persist then run the system test using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to rule out hardware issues.

  1. Start or restart the computer.
  2. Press F2 repeatedly during start up to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility.
  3. Select Component Tests /System Test
  4. Click Run Once.

Once the test completes, results are displayed on the screen.

If all tests pass, continue to restore a computer back to the factory default using Reset PC from windows, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
