Hi @Shade7861,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What HP laptop model are you using? (Envy, Victus, Pavilion, Omen, etc.)
  2. Are you using wired or Bluetooth headphones?
  3. Do you see any audio-related sections at all in the myHP app now (like Audio, Sound Profiles, or DTS/B&O)?
  4. Did this happen after:
    • a Windows update
    • a myHP app update
    • or both?

Kindly follow the below steps :

1. Check if the equalizer is device-specific now

Some updates make the EQ appear only when a supported headset is plugged in.

  • Plug in your headset
  • Open myHP
  • Look under:
    • Audio
    • Sound
    • Device-specific settings
  • Try switching output devices while myHP is open

A few users found the EQ only reappears when wired headphones are active.

2. Look for audio controls moved out of myHP

Depending on your model, HP sometimes shifts EQ control to:

  • DTS Audio / DTS:X Ultra
  • Bang & Olufsen Audio Control
  • Realtek Audio Console

Check your Start Menu for any of those — the equalizer may still exist, just not inside myHP anymore.

3. Check Windows sound enhancements (quietly added back)

Some updates push basic EQ options back into Windows:

  • Right-click the speaker icon → Sound settings
  • Select your headset → More sound settings
  • Open the Enhancements or Advanced tab

It’s not as flexible as myHP’s EQ, but it can confirm whether sound processing is still active.

4. Confirm myHP didn’t switch profiles

In some updates, myHP resets to a “Basic” or “Default” profile that hides advanced controls.

  • Open myHP
  • Look for profiles, modes, or presets
  • Switch profiles and see if audio options reappear

I hope this helps.

hello

thank you for your reply

laptop model- Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 16-r0xxx

i use a wired headset

yes this happened after an update with my hp app not windows update

i can confirm the equalizer has become device specific

when i remove my headset it appears when i plug it back it disappears

however this was not the case before the update the equalizer used to work for both laptop speaker and my headset before the update

i really hope hp fixes this
as for DTS Audio / DTS:X Ultra Bang & Olufsen Audio Control Realtek Audio Console i do not have these
and there was nothing added to Windows sound enhancements

and the audio option is there in my hp, just the equalizer is not available for the headset

Hi @Shade7861,

Thank you for your response.

It seems that the issue with the sound equalizer in the MyHP app might be related to how the app recognizes your audio devices after the update. Here are a few things you can try to potentially resolve this issue:

Check MyHP App Settings:

  • Open the MyHP app and go to the audio settings section. Ensure that the settings relevant to external audio devices (headsets) are configured correctly.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Ensure that all your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP Support website, Official HP® Support, entering your laptop model, and downloading the latest drivers for your audio device.

Device Manager Check:

  • Open Device Manager, locate your audio devices under 'Sound, video and game controllers,' and ensure there are no issues (yellow exclamation marks).

Check Sound Settings:

  • Visit the sound settings on your laptop. This can be done by right-clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar and selecting 'Sounds'. From there, you can check the playback and recording devices to ensure everything is set correctly for both your internal speakers and headset.

Reinstall MyHP App:

Take care and have an amazing day!

unfortunately i have tried all the solutions you provided but the issue still persists

the link you provided to reinstall myhp app doesnt have a windows option in it so i did it from the microsoft store itself

something very funny is that no matter how many times i uninstall the app or reset it in the settings

the settings in it never reset

even if im logged in before reset and uninstall it doesnt logout when i reinstall it

not sure how this relates to my issue but just putting it out there

please let me know if theres any other solution i can use
