Hi,

OMEN by HP 15-dh0007na Gaming Laptop - NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2070

After a gaming session, I powered off and closed the lid on my notebook. Now I try to power on, the led appear on the power button, I hear the fans, but the screen is black.  Also, pressing caps lock does not illuminate the caps lock led.  Things I’ve tried:

- Hard reset (hold power button for 15 sec)

- connect external monitor via hdmi (no signal on ext monitor)

- opened the unit, removed the battery, and with power disconnected, pressed and held power button for 15-20 sec to discharge all components. Then with battery still disconnected, plugged in powere adapter and powered on - still the issue persists.

What else can I try?

Thanks

Hi @Eddyxud,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power Button Reset:

  • Make sure the laptop is completely powered off.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to ensure any residual power is dissipated.

Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electricity.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try starting the laptop again.

Check External Connections:

  • Ensure all cables connected to external monitors or peripherals are properly secured.
  • Disconnect peripherals and check if the built-in screen lights up.

External Monitor Test:

  • Plug in an external monitor with an HDMI cable to verify if any display output is detected.
  • If no output is detected, it may be a deeper hardware/connection issue.

BIOS Access:

  • Try accessing the BIOS by repeatedly pressing Esc or F10 immediately upon powering the device.
  • If the BIOS menu appears, it indicates a possible software or OS-level issue rather than a hardware malfunction.

RAM Check:

  • Open the bottom panel of the laptop and reseat the RAM sticks. Sometimes, loose RAM can cause boot issues.
  • If you have multiple RAM sticks, try booting with one at a time.

HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tools, if available. This often requires installation on USB for cases where normal booting isn't possible.
  • It may help diagnose underlying hardware issues.

I hope this helps.
