Hi, I used to be able to charge my iPad by plugging it into one of the USB ports on my Omen laptop. A few months ago, it stopped charging when I plugged it in. The problem does not seem to be in my iPad--the technicians at the Apple store found nothing wrong with it. Did an update on the Omen stop it from charging other devices when plugged in?

Hi @Renee38947 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your OMEN Laptop - 17t-cb100 could have affected the power delivery through the USB ports, causing the iPad to stop charging. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check Power Settings
- USB Selective Suspend: Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings → Find USB settings → USB selective suspend setting and disable it.
- Power Management for USB Controllers: In Device Manager (Right-click Start → Device Manager), expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click each USB Root Hub (or Generic USB Hub), go to Properties, and under the Power Management tab, uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
2. Update or Roll Back USB Drivers
Sometimes updates can change how power is delivered to USB ports.
- Go to Device Manager and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click on the USB drivers and select Update driver. If the problem started after a driver update, you could try Rolling back the driver instead.
3. Try Different USB Ports
If your laptop has multiple USB ports, test each one. Some ports (especially USB-C or specific USB 3.0 ports) might offer better power delivery than others.
4. BIOS or Firmware Update
Check if your OMEN laptop has any pending BIOS or firmware updates that might improve USB functionality. HP Support Assistant can help with this.
5. Check Fast Charge Settings
Some laptops have specific ports designed for charging external devices. Make sure you’re using a port labeled for fast charging or check your BIOS settings to see if fast charge options are enabled.
6. Test with Different Devices
Try charging other devices (e.g., a phone) via the USB port to see if it's a general issue with USB power delivery or specific to the iPad.
