My system has 256GBs SSD hard drive, and wanted to upgrade it . I was wondering if it's possible to insert an extra HDD in it, or the only option to upgrade to a larger SSD.

Your machine could be one of the following machines
For example
It supports single storage only you can not insert an EXTRA, you have to replace it with a larger (capacity) drive.
FYI: My current machine does not have second internal slot for storage, it does NOT have card reader therefore I have to use an external USB card reader to store mode files.
Regards.

The specs of your machine is
It has
256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD |
now, It does not support dual storage therefore you have to replace 256GB with a larger (capacity) drive. the limit is very high but due to physical limit (only 2280 single sided format) therefore you can use up to 2TB for example
