Microsoft Windows 11

I have started developing problems with the onboard graphics card on my HP Omen laptop. I have a dual monitor setup which works of my hdmi port. On start up everything works fine until I open up a game. Game boots in fine for around 15 seconds but then everything black screens and restarts. On restart the adrenalin suite for graphics now will not open and throws up an error along the lines it is no longer compatible with the installed drivers. Also, the other monitor will not show anything and stays black.. I have run all the usual tests which come back ok and installed new graphic drivers etc, but still the same issues occur. Totally at a loss now as to what the issue is. Any advice is very welcome.

Hi @joejoeagogo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing multiple issues with your graphics setup on your HP Omen laptop. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to address the problems.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that both your graphics drivers and chipset drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website or directly from AMD (assuming you have an AMD GPU).
  • Rollback Drivers: If updating the drivers doesn't help, try rolling back to a previous version of the graphics drivers. Sometimes the latest drivers can introduce compatibility issues.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can cause various issues including graphical glitches and sudden shutdowns. Make sure your laptop is adequately cooled and that the vents are not blocked. You can also use software like HWMonitor to check the temperature of your components.
  • Power Settings: Ensure that your power settings are set to high performance, especially when gaming. This ensures that your GPU is running at full power when needed.
  • Check for Background Processes: Background processes can sometimes interfere with gaming performance. Close any unnecessary applications and disable any background processes that may be using significant system resources.
  • Monitor Connections: Double-check all connections between your laptop and monitors. Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely connected and not damaged.
  • Test with Single Monitor: Disconnect one of the monitors and see if the issue persists. This can help isolate whether the problem is related to the dual monitor setup.
  • Test with Different Games: Try running different games to see if the issue is specific to a particular game or if it occurs across multiple games.
  • Check for BIOS Updates: Occasionally, BIOS updates can address compatibility issues and improve system stability. Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model on the HP website.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run thorough hardware diagnostics provided by HP. These diagnostics can help identify any hardware issues that may be causing the problem.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issues with your graphics setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
