Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY x360 - m6-w102dx and the internal fan is always running and appears to be loud. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

Is the fan always running or did it start acting like this recently?

Did any hardware or software changes take place on the laptop?

Is the laptop overheating?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop.

Please download and install the BIOS update for your laptop via this HP link.  The charger must be connected until the BIOS update is successfully completed.

Post a successful BIOS update if the fan continues to be on all the time then let us try to disable the "fan always on" option from the BIOS. The following steps should help:

  • Shutdown the laptop.
  • Power on the laptop and immediately hit the f10 key repeatedly (7-8 times). This should load the BIOS on the screen.
  • In the BIOS, please navigate through the different tabs and look for an option that says "fan always on". If you find it then please disable it.
  • Save and exit from the BIOS.

By doing this, the fan will turn on only when required.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

Hello Team,

I lost the Hp cool sense software on my : HP ENVY m6-w102dx after i did an upgrade.
I have been trying to install it but I always get stuck with update net framework although my framework is updated.

Kindly assist with getting the driver or software for the device.
