OMEN 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-am0000 (A57XSAV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Even though I activated "unleashed" mode through OMEN Gaming Hub, I still get low FPS in CS2 than I should get. Can you help me about it? My laptop details: HP OMEN 16-am0773nd - Gaming Laptop - 16 inch - Ultra 7 - RTX 5070 - 32GB/1TB - 240 Hz

Hi @soldí

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue—I'm really sorry your OMEN 16-am0773nd isn’t delivering the expected FPS in CS2 even with “Unleashed” mode enabled. With an Ultra 7 CPU, RTX 5070, and 32GB RAM, your system should easily handle CS2 at high frame rates, especially on a 240 Hz panel.

Let’s walk through a focused optimization strategy to restore performance.

Step-by-Step Fix: Low FPS in CS2 Despite Unleashed Mode

1. Verify GPU Usage

  • Open Task Manager > Performance > GPU while CS2 is running.
  • Confirm that the NVIDIA RTX 5070 is being used—not integrated graphics.

If CS2 is using the iGPU, FPS will drop dramatically.

2. Force CS2 to Use RTX 5070

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics
  • Find CS2 (Counter-Strike 2) in the list or add it manually.
  • Set Graphics preference to High performance (NVIDIA RTX 5070)

3. Update NVIDIA Drivers

This ensures optimal performance and clears any corrupted profiles.

4. Disable V-Sync and Frame Caps in CS2

  • In CS2 settings:
    • Set V-Sync to Off
    • Set Max FPS to 240 or 0 (uncapped)
  • In launch options, add:
    -high -novid -threads 8

These tweaks prioritize performance and reduce input lag.

5. Check OMEN Gaming Hub Settings

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub
  • Confirm:
    • Unleashed Mode is active
    • Performance Control is set to Turbo
    • Thermal Control is set to Auto or Max Fans

Unleashed Mode boosts power limits and fan curves, but may require a reboot to fully apply.

6. Monitor Thermals and Throttling

  • Use HWMonitor or OMEN Performance Control to check:
    • CPU temps (should stay <95°C)
    • GPU temps (should stay <85°C)
    • Look for thermal throttling or power limit throttling

If temps spike, performance may drop even in Unleashed Mode.

7. Disable Background Apps

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • End tasks like:
    • HP Analytics
    • Windows Widgets
    • OneDrive sync (temporarily)

These can silently consume CPU and memory, affecting FPS.

Let me know what FPS you’re seeing now and whether it improves after these steps—I’ll guide you further.

You’re doing everything right by digging into this early—I’ll stay with you until CS2 runs as it should.
