I am getting very low fps and stuttering while playing games on the computer. I have been having this problem for a long time, even though I bought my computer less than 1 year ago.

Hi @pr0krustes,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing low FPS and stuttering while playing games on your Victus by HP gaming laptop, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website or use software like GeForce Experience (for NVIDIA graphics cards) or Radeon Software (for AMD graphics cards) to update them automatically.
- Check Power Settings: Make sure your laptop is set to "High Performance" mode in the power settings. This ensures that your laptop is using its full potential when gaming.
- Monitor Temperature: Overheating can cause performance issues. Use software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. If temperatures are too high, consider cleaning the laptop's vents and fans or using a laptop cooling pad.
- Close Background Applications: Close any unnecessary programs running in the background while gaming. These applications can consume system resources and affect gaming performance.
- Adjust In-Game Settings: Lowering graphics settings in your games can help improve performance. Try reducing settings like resolution, texture quality, shadows, and anti-aliasing to see if it makes a difference.
- Disable Game Bar and Game DVR: If you're using Windows 10, consider disabling the Game Bar and Game DVR features, as they can sometimes cause performance issues.
- Scan for Malware and Viruses: Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to check for any malware or viruses that could be affecting your system performance.
- Check for Background Processes: Use Task Manager to check for any background processes consuming a significant amount of CPU or memory resources. End any unnecessary processes that could be impacting performance.
- Update Windows: Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates, as these updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.
- Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with your laptop.
By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and hopefully resolve the issues causing low FPS and stuttering in your games.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
