Hi everyone,
I am looking for suggestions on a new power supply for my gaming laptop, right now it has the original 230w PSU
I currently get significant battery depletion even during what i consider basic gaming (non-AAA games)
i am using a 4 fan laptop cooler
my rig is i7-7700 with 16 gig ram, it handles even top games pretty well but it wipes out any possible charge that the PSU is putting in, during a 2 or 3 hr gaming seesion of a non high end game it will barely maintain the battery at 20% and the PSU adapter gets scorching hot
can someone give me a suggestion of say a 400w PSU to use that will swap right into my machine
Thanks in advance : )

Hello @IvanGus
In the future, it helps us better if you include the full product number of your laptop.
HP doesnt sell 400w AC adapters. I would recommend running the HP Diagnostics tools at startup and check both the battery and power adapter in the Component Tests. Usually the tests can pick up on a faulty device.
The AC brick shouldnt be getting scorching hot, although they can get quite warm. But there is also a chance it could be a bad battery.
If you indeed need another AC adapter, the part number for the 17-An0xx series is 693706-001.
The battery part number will be listed on a sticker on the battery itself. It should be 922977-855

I looked up the part in the HP Parts Store and neither is available. You will have to look to a third party seller online for it.
