Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Victus gaming laptop suddenly started having camera issues two months ago. It used to work fine, but now I can’t use it on Zoom or any other app that needs a camera. I’ve tried uninstalling the driver, restarting the laptop, and running regular Windows 11 updates, but nothing seems to fix it.

The Windows Camera app flashes the camera briefly on a blank screen before giving me a “no cameras are attached” error. I’ve double-checked that the camera is enabled in settings. I’ve also kept the laptop safe from any physical damage.

Does anyone know how to fix this, please?

@Xeno7, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the camera issues you're experiencing with your HP Victus laptop. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Camera Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure that Camera access is turned ON.
  • Make sure Let apps access your camera is also ON.

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click on Start and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
  • If the camera is listed, right-click and select Enable device (if disabled) or Update driver > Search automatically.
  • If the camera is not listed, click View > Show hidden devices.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then press F2.
  • Select Component Tests > Webcam Test. If the test fails, it might indicate a hardware issue.

Reinstall Camera Driver:

  • In Device Manager, right-click the camera and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically. If not, download the latest driver from the HP Support site for your model.

Update BIOS:

  • Ensure your BIOS is up to date. You can download the latest BIOS update from the HP Support site and follow the instructions to install it.

Perform a Power Drain:

  • Unplug the power cord from the laptop and wall.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if detachable.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, then release.
  • Reconnect the power cord and adapter, then power on the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you, but I've tried everything you listed and it still doesn't work. Windows can't recognize the camera.

@Xeno7, Thank you for your update. Since all software-level steps haven’t resolved the issue and Windows still doesn’t detect the camera, here are the final things to check:

Check BIOS to ensure the camera is enabled:

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Look under the Security or Advanced tab for any Integrated Camera option.
  • If it’s Disabled, please enable it, save changes, and restart.

Test a new user profile:

  • Create a new local user account from Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account.
  • Log into that new user and test the Camera app again.

3. If the camera still isn’t recognized, the issue is likely hardware-related:

The internal camera may be disconnected or faulty, especially if it doesn't appear in Device Manager even after showing hidden devices.

I recommend visiting the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)

I hope this helps!
