HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1024ax
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have the mentioned product of HP Pavilion with me and the charging jack was damaged(Not sure of how). However, I took the laptop to 2 or 3 technicians and they all confirmed that my motherboard was short due to an electrical surge. Now, I have been told that the new motherboard would cost somewhere around ₹32,000 which is closed to$389.16, The new laptop cost is close to this. So, would like to know from the community if its really worth saving my laptop and how much an actual motherboard would cost.

Hello @Jay_Aatreyas

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

Remember, there are very good technicians who analyze the short circuit, replace the cheap defective components on the motherboard and there are others who do not have time and say that the motherboard must be replaced. Do you notice anything?

Kind regards

Hi Ub6424,

Firstly, thanks a ton for taking time and responding, really appreciate!

I'd say that I did not take it some great technician. The way he spoke and explained things to me seemed little odd. But, taking my laptop to HP authorised service center, and if the response is the same, then I'd again be in a predicament whether to replace the motherboard or just let it die in the shelf. Please help me to understand if it's really worth saving it if HP authorised service person says it's actually the motherboard issue. Or shall I take it offline and get it done by someone who knows these computers well

Hello @Jay_Aatreyas1

In your situation and the experience with the so-called "business partners" do not have the notebook repaired !

If you have a friend/neighbor/acquaintance who knows computers, ask them to help you disassemble the notebook and then sell the spare parts that still work. For security reasons, please keep the hard drive.

Buy another good used or new notebook, please.

Good luck
