Hello Mersk,
What is the full model number of the computer you are connecting the controller to?
Microsoft has the instructions posted here for free... http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-controller-for-windows-setup
If it is a "genuine Windows XBOX 360 controller", it will be detected in Windows 8 through 10. Windows 7 will have to have the drivers manually installed.
If its not detecting, you can go to the Device Manager and see if any yellow caution signs are posted next to the driver.
Either in Mice and other pointing devices or Universal Serial Bus controllers. You can right click on the device and uninstall it, reboot and try again.
If the controller still wont work, you might need to contact Microsoft for a replacement. Looks like the MS accessories only carry a 90 day warranty though. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/devices

Take a look at this recent article about X360 controllers. You can download the appropriate software from Microsoft for Windows and your controller...

Hope it helps.
Good luck.
