My built in webcam is not working. I followed the instructions to update the drivers to no avail. I deleted the camera from device manager and now I am unable to get it back. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi @joede59,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your built-in webcam on the Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 is no longer working and has disappeared from Device Manager, here’s how to troubleshoot and restore it:
1. Check Webcam Privacy Settings
Your laptop may have a physical webcam privacy switch or keyboard shutter key:
- Look for a slider near the webcam or a keyboard key with a camera icon (often F8 or F10).
- Press it once or slide it to the open position.
- If needed, press Fn + [camera key] to toggle it.

2. Scan for Hardware Changes
Since you deleted the webcam from Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager
- Click Action > Scan for hardware changes
- Check under Imaging Devices, Cameras, or USB Devices
If it reappears, right-click and choose Update driver.
3. Install the Correct Webcam Driver
Visit the official HP driver page for your model:
👉 Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support
- Download and install the Camera Driver (if listed)
- Also, install the HP System Event Utility and Chipset drivers, which help detect hardware
4. Enable Hidden Devices
Sometimes the webcam is hidden:
- In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices
- Look again under Cameras or Imaging Devices
5. BIOS Check
If the webcam still doesn’t appear:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS
- Look for a setting like “Integrated Camera” and ensure it’s enabled
- Save and exit
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
