Operating System: Android 8.0 Oreo and older

I installed the HP Smart software on my android phone yesterday specifically to use the mobile fax function.  I was able to send one fax without an issue (cover page).   I needed to send an additional file so I created a 2nd fax with a cover page and pdf file attachment.  I have been totally unable to send the fax always getting the same error message:

 

Something went wrong!

It seems that an error has occurred before the sending process.  Please try to send your fax again.

 

I've tried multiple things - wifi on, wifi off (mobile data), uninstall and reinstall of HP Smart software, but every time I try to send I get the error message which provides no clue as to what the problem is.  Any ideas?
