Unable to Access My HP Personal Medial Drive

I have an External HP Personal Media Drive 1TB Model hd10000z.  I was was running on Windows 7 Home & Business but installed Windows 10 during the free upgrade bombardment and windows 7 would no longer be supported.  Upgrade was not without issure but got worked out and everthing was working including Personal Medial Drive.  Now (after an windows update) I am expericing problems with devices not being recongnized especially flash drives and now my Personal Medical Drive.  Error messgage says drivers not installed and when i scan computer and internet I'm told no drivers available.  I got to HP for software and drivers and I can't find anything for Windows 10.  I have data on the Personal Medial Drive and cannot access tem.  I can see my Persoanl Media Drive when I go into Device Manager / Other devices.  What can I do?

I understand you have issues with an external hard drive not getting recognized on your PC.

Don't worry I'd like to hep you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Please try the steps recommended below.

Press Windows Key + R, type “devmgmt.msc” into the Run dialog, and press Enter.

Look under Disk drives and check for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark next to them. If you see a yellow exclamation mark, you have a driver problem. Right-click the device with a yellow exclamation mark, select Properties and look at the error message. This error message can help you fix the problem share the error message to me I will try to find the solution.

Go to Search, type power management, and open Power & sleep settings
Go to Additional power settings
Click on Change plan settings, next to your selected power plan
Now go to Change advanced power settings
Under USB settings, find USB selective suspend setting, and set it to Disabled

Go to Device Manager
Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, find USB Mass Storage Device
Right-click on it and go to Properties
Now, go to Details tab, and from Property, choose Device instance path
Right-click on the path, and save it

Now, open Registry Editor
Go to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\USB\VID_8564&PID_1000\5388DW3MEQ8HGRAX\Device Parameters

In the right pane of Device Parameters key look for the DWORD named EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled which must be showing its Value data as 1.
Double click on it, and change its value to 0
Click OK
Restart your computer and try to connect your drive again

I have a PMD 320GB from a Pavilion desktop.  Until this last week it was working fine and then I had to get a new pc.  Could not find a decent HP so bought another make.  Now my PMD will not work in the Windows 10 (crap by the way - hate it) but I am desparate to get the data off it as it has all my docs, music, pictures, tax returns etc. etc. on it.  I have already read the forums and the solution proposed does not work as the drive is not even listed.  It is not recognised at all so I cannot go through the solution already in the forum.  Please help as my life's work (well 10 years anyway) is on there as I have been keeping everything on a separate drive since eons ago when I lost some stuff on a pc in the past.

Hello, I have tried and tried and I cannot get the PMD to work at all.   The message I get is: Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45).  It is simply not connecting and also says: USB device not recognised.

Is this just aproblem with Windows 10? Should I install a different operating system so that I can see my PMD?

This is the string I see when the warning triangle pops up briefly, if I am quick enough to catch it:  USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\5&6D1880A&0&4

This is the string I get when I right click on teh warning triangle that pops up now and again, if I am quick enough before it drops out again:   USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\5&6D1880A&0&4
