Windows Upgrades on HP tablet

HP Pro Tablet 608 G1
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Just bought and had to return an HP Pro Tablet 608 G1 that had Windows 8.1P installed.  It was brand new, and the seller indicated he could upgrade to Windows 10, but I declined as a Microsoft Store is close by me and I figured they could do it just as easy.  But when I brought the tablet in to Microsoft, the team told me that the tablet could not be upgraded and they showed me some HP advisories: that I could risk not having the internet at all, no sound, etc.  -- So I am returning, the seller was very nice to accept it back.  Now my question is this -- if I bought an HP tablet with Windows 10, and then Microsoft came out with a later version -- would I have the same issue, that HP would not support upgrades?  Makes me cautious about HP, though a very good brand.  I upgraded an Acer tablet from Windows 8 to 10 without any issues, and so this dumbfounded me. Thanks.

Windows Upgrades on HP tablet

Hi:

I don't know why anyone told you that model can't be upgraded to W10.

There is a full set of W10 drivers for that model on the support page at the link below...

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pro-tablet-608-g1/7484083

There are wifi drivers (I have the same model wifi card in my HP notebook), there are W10 audio drivers, etc...

Here is HP's support policy regarding W10...

You probably could have upgraded that tablet to W10 with no issues, but that is water under the bridge.
