Reinstalling Windows on a HP Desktop

HP Pro 3120
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have recently found my old desktop and to my dissapointment windows did not run. I could not recover the system as I did not remember the admin account password. I want to add that I have not found my recovery discs (I quite remember they were included). Is there any possibility to legaly install Windows? I have all the keys and serial numbers but Windows website does not accept them as the software was preintsalled on the computer. Please help!

Hi:

If you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on your PC's case, you can make your own W7 installation media as follows...

Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.

https://www.heidoc.net/php/Windows-ISO-Downloader.exe

Select the Windows COEM ISO file download for the version of W7 the product key is good for.

I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft utility below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or DVD, or you can use a different free utility such as Rufus.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page...

Thank You for your reply. I tried to download the file from microsoft site : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 and it pops up that the key is not valid as windows was preinstalled on a computer so I have to contact HP support. My question is if it would not be same if I somehow get the ISO file from another source and then after installation I will type in the key.

You're very welcome.

You need to click on this link which downloads a file that accesses the Microsoft Techbench W7 ISO files and generates the ISO file download you need.  There are two sets of ISO files.  You want the COEM files.

If you still have problems with doing that, let me know what version of W7 64 bit you need (Home or Pro) and what language you need it in, and I will generate the W7 ISO download link you need which will be good for 24 hours from the time I post it.
