When I try and save some of my work a small cross in a red circle and when I open the documents, usually word files, a yellow banner appears at the top saying that there was an issue saving and I should make a copy. So far I haven’t lost any documents but I don’t know what it means. Pavilion HP laptop

Hi @Alice161
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. This seems like an application issue with MS office. A red circle with a white cross means that a file or folder cannot be synced.
For more info on one-drive icons on MS word, refer to this document.
Have you checked with PDF files or webpages if the issue persists?
Which version of Windows OS are you using?
You may update the MS Office application on the PC. Click here to know how to update.
If the issue persists, repair MS office. Click here to know how.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
Have a great day!
