HP Support Assistant for Windows 10
For most everyone using Windows 10 - any "regular" version of Windows 10: Download and install the version from the HP Support Assistant Website. At this writing, this is version 8.7.50.3
If you are having problems with re-installation,
- Uninstall the existing version of the HPSA > Restart and log in > Install the fresh copy of the HPSA software > Restart and log in
Still no Joy?
- Uninstall the existing version of the HPSA and opt to remove HPSA personal data > Restart and log in > Uninstall the HP Support Solutions Framework > Restart and log in > Install the fresh copy of the HPSA software > Restart and log in
Windows in S Mode
If your computer shipped with "Windows 10 in S Mode", There is a version of the Assistant for your Operating System. To read about the option, open the HP Support Assistant Webpage and click the appropriate button "Using Windows 10 in S mode? Click here".
Reminders:
- Windows in S mode allows you to download and install applications from the Windows Store.
- The two versions (regular and "S" mode) are not compatible with one another.
Based on a different member's experience:
If you install the HPSA for "S" mode and you are not running Windows in "S" mode,
If you cannot run HPSA and you cannot uninstall / install the correct version,
If you have "tried everything",
Contact HP Technical Support ... or as a last resort, consider reinstalling Windows.
General Information:
Installation - HP Support Assistant

Website / Download

Unless that machine was originally installed with Windows in S mode, I cannot guess the update is offering the "S" mode version.
Based on a bit of experience having answered a post where someone did install "S" mode onto a "not S mode" Windows machine, I would strongly recommend that you do NOT install that 9.x version on your "not S mode" computer. The eventual "fix" to get not-S-mode HPSA working again was to reinstall Windows. Not ideal.
