A user is unable to connect to after PC is moved to another office. When trying to connect the user gets the following dialog box:

The warning notice received is Unable to connect to Sender! Verify the hostname or IP address and try again.

Currently this is what we know

  • The user is using VPN to connect to the network. RGS was working fine until the PC was moved to another office.
  • User has tried name and IP address.
  • Firewalls at each office had been setup with identical rules.
  • The user can ping the PC and can connect with RDP.
  • The user can not connect to any PCs at the new office with RGS.
  • The Sender does not seem to be an issue as other users can use RGS to connect to the PC
  • Receiver has been uninstalled and reinstalled.
  • The DNS cache has also been flushed on the Receiver Device.

Does anyone have any thoughts of a fix or troubleshooting techniques?

Was it the sender that has been moved to a different office, not the user correct? Are the network settings the same as the network conditions at the previous location.  Normally that error appears when the sender and receiver cannot communicate (see each other on the network).  In your case you mention that you can ping the sender from the receiver in the new location.  HP Velocity is enabled by default.  When using HP Velocity, it changes the traffic from TCP to UDP.  Can the user connect if HP Velocity is disabled in the Receiver GUI?  If so, it could be that UDP traffic is not enabled or port 42966 is not open for UDP.  I would need logs from a connection to be troubleshoot this.  Let me reach out in a PM, but may need to get this feature enabled for you first.
