I have been trying to use rgreceiver on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, the HP Z Remote version is 26.2.1.9883 ,but I have tried quite a few version.

Everything seems okay but when I connect  I just get a black screen.

I'm running Wayland but this was working on Wayland under Ubuntu 25.10 (all presumably through XWayland).

Anyone seen this on newer Linux distros and has a workaround?

Hello

Current support for Ubuntu for RGS is 24.04.  We are looking into Wayland support, but currently RGS turns Wayland off.  I am interested in your black screen as we have have had customers report this issue on RHEL 9.8 and Rocky 9.8, which we are already looking into.  Could you please email me at zcentral@hp.com? I would love to gather more details, possibly some logs which I don't collect on the forum.

This issue is distinct from the black screen on Rocky/Alma 9.8.

The issue you are talking about on 9.8 is an rgsender issue.

I'm talking about an rgreceiver issue on much newer distros.

The issue I'm talking about here is a rgreceiver issue (that should be unrelated to Wayland as this is a client application and just using XWayland for display, which always worked before i.e. it doesn't have to grab this display like rgsender would need to do and will need a rearchitecting to work, as you have in your roadmap).

There is a big difference here.

This all was fine in the last Ubuntu version under Wayland i.e. XWayland.

I was just thinking that you were seeing the black screen when connecting to the sender.  Apologies for the confusion.  It might be helpful to get logs from the receiver, but let me get back to you.  I don't like to collect logs on the forum.  If possible, can you reach out to me on the zcentral@hp.com email and we can work on this further.

Hello again.

I would like to have you collect the RGSbugreports from a connection to share with the development team.

I need these to open a ticket for them.  I am going to see if I can reproduce the issue and provide them with my findings.  The RGSbugreports should be collected from both the sender and receiver.  Can you please reach out to me on my zcentral@hp.com email so I can move this forward.  Attached is the instructions for the RGSbugreports, but basically the sender RGSbugreport should be collected as root and the receiver side should be collected as user.  Forgot to add the POC template.  It gives me everything I need to create the ticket.  The POC template is a shortened version of the escalation template we do for cases in HP support.

I have sent you an email to the address you provided with basic logs and maybe you can reply to me with instructions to capture what you need?

Hello

Thank you again for emailing me.   I am creating two tickets.  One to address the Ubuntu issue mentioned here, and thank you for the video on that as well as the the POC template and log files.  Also, one to look at Alma Linux 9.8 in addition to the black screen issues we are already working on with RHEL 9.8 and Rocky 9.8 senders.  Will keep you in the loop via the email thread, but will post final solution, which will be a fix in a new release, here on the forum.
