Hello,

I am connecting to a Windows 11 PC using HP Z Remote Graphics Software. On the remote PC, pen pressure for my Wacom pen tablet is not working in Autodesk Maya 2023. However, pen pressure works fine in Adobe Photoshop 26.5 on the same remote PC.

According to the product specifications, is pen pressure supported in Maya via RGS? I experience the exact same behavior when remotely connecting to other Windows PCs. Interestingly, when I connect to a Linux PC (Rocky 8.8) remotely, pen pressure works perfectly in Maya 2023.

If this feature is supposed to work on Windows, I would greatly appreciate any advice or troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

My environment details are listed below. Please let me know if you need any further information. (Note: I have provided detailed version information for this report. However, based on my testing, the issue occurs regardless of the specific software versions: pen pressure consistently fails in Maya on Windows, but works perfectly in Maya on Linux.)

[Environment Details]

Local PC (Receiver)

  • OS: Windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.8037)

  • HP Z Remote Graphics Software Receiver: Version 26.02.1.9883 (d41f4a11b) / Build Date: Apr 13 2026

  • Tablet: Wacom Intuos Pro PTH-660

  • Wacom Tablet Driver: 6.4.10-3

Remote PC (Sender - Windows)

  • OS: Windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.8037)

  • Autodesk Maya: 2023.3.0

  • HP Z Remote Graphics Software Sender: Version 26.2.1.9883 (d41f4a11b)

  • Wacom Tablet Driver: 6.4.10-3

  • (Note: No physical pen tablet is connected to the remote PC; only the driver is installed.)

Remote PC (Sender - Linux)

  • OS: Rocky Linux 8.8

  • Autodesk Maya: 2023.3.0

  • HP Z Remote Graphics Software Sender: rgsender-20.3.1.8860-1.x86_64

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hello

Thank you for the detailed information.

We do have users that use Maya and Photoshop.  We recently had a user from this forum, that reported an issue with Maya with a Mac Receiver, and we worked with Wacom to get that fixed.  It was an issue with the camera zoom function.

From your comments you are not remoting the Wacom device and keeping it local on the receiver and have the driver loaded on the Windows Receiver and Sender.  For Windows, only the Wacom driver needs to be installed on the Receiver side.

Windows Sender solution
Wacom drivers are not required on the Sender system. If they are installed, the Wacom Tablet controls do not show the device as being connected. You must make any adjustments to the Wacom device on the Receiver system.

Also would like to confirm that the Wacom device is already connected before making the RGS connection to the Windows sender.  Also,  disabling touch on the Wacom device.  If touch is enabled this can cause the Receiver to use the touch interface and could cause interference with pen events.

Lastly, are you able to provide me with what you are doing with in Maya so we can reproduce the issue?  Videos are helpful.  I can create a drop box (ftp) for you to upload it to, and will send that information to you once I start working with you via the zcentral@hp.com email.  Using the zcentral@hp.com email will allow me to collect logs if need be and once we get this issue resolved, post the resolution here for other users.  Please reference your post in the subject title.

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for the detailed response and the great advice.

I followed your suggestion and uninstalled the Wacom driver from our remote PCs (Senders). I am happy to report that this resolved the issue on several of our PCs, and pen pressure is now working perfectly in Maya! Thank you so much for the solution.

However, the issue still persists on one specific PC.

Since I don't have a video to share just yet, I decided to update this forum thread first rather than emailing right away. I am currently comparing the app and driver versions between the working PCs and the one that is still experiencing the issue.

I will post another update here as soon as I finish checking the differences. If we still cannot resolve it on this last PC, I will reach out to you via the zcentral@hp.com email as you suggested.

Thanks again for your support!

Best regards,

Kaneko
