Hi. I'm running Zcentral sender on my Z workstation and Zcentral receiver on my HP laptop (both windows 10). all works fine on my home network but I now need to configure so I can access the workstation remotely from outside my home network. My IT department have advised i will need to set up a VPN on my home network to be able to do this but this isn't supported by my existing router so would need to be upgraded.
Is it necessary to use a VPN for remote boost to work in this situation, or can port forwarding on the router be used similar to windows remote desktop? I've tried setting up port forwarding to port 42966 on my workstation but its not working. is this a firewall issue or can Zcentral not be used in this way?
any help greatly appreciated as I don't want to be changing or adding more hardware if I don't need to. oh and also, I will be the only person accessing the workstation (not sure if this makes a difference)

Remote Boost sender and receiver need to be on the same network, meaning they need to be able to see each other. If you can perform a ping after setting up port forwarding on your router, then Remote Boost should be able to make a connection. When using port forwarding you need to include that in your IP address when connecting. See page 102 of the user guide that I have attached.
If your IT department uses a VPN they should be able to provide you with what you need to install on your receiver to connect to their VPN. You would first need to connect to your company's network and then launch Remote Boost to connect to a sender that is at your company. You should not need to use port forwarding with a VPN.
