HP Z840 and HP T730 Thin Client
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello Everyone,

I am doing some VR development using Unreal Engine and Oculus Rift. My workstation is a HP Z840 and I have that machine in a server cabinet accross the room from where I am working.

I access my workstation via a HP T730 Thin Client using HP RGS using the latest version.

My question is about connecting my Rift through the thin client to the Z840. Basically, with the Oculus software installed on the host nothing that I plug into the thin client registers on the host.

I am not sure if this is an RGS problem or a Thin Client issue.

Has anyone tried this before?

I would prefer not to run long USB extension cables and directly connect to the host if possible.

Thanks

Not sure if the Oculus Rift is something that we support with RGS.  In reviewing the headset setup for the Oculus Rift you use the HDMI on the graphic card and USB 3.0.  Do you have remote USB enabled in RGS?  We just released RGS 7.6 end of December and you mention you are on the latest version so you are using RGS 7.5.1?  Both sender and receiver?  What OS is on your T730?  I see Windows 10 is mentioned but not sure if you have it on your T730 as well as the Z840.

Thank for your reply!

I am running Window 10 Enterprise on the HP Z840 and Windows 10 Enterprise IOT on the T730 thin client.

I am running RGS 7.5.1 on both sender and receiver (didn't realize 7.6 was out as it doesn't seem to update automatically)

I found out that we do have the Oculus Rift VR headset so I will see if I can get it to work with a Z840 sender and a T730 receiver.  RGS updates are not automatic but when we have a release I will post it on this forum.  There is a post from me regarding the release of RGS 7.6 along with the release notes and user guide.  I will try with RGS 7.5.1 and RGS 7.6 to see which one I can get this setup to work on.
