I have an Ubuntu system I am trying to get the HP Sender to work on, accessing it from an RGS Receiver on my Mac. I can use the receiver on my Mac to connect to other Linux machines, but not my Ubuntu machine. It is an HP. I followed the user guide to install the Ubuntu HP Sender on my machine, and I have a LICENSE.txt file in the /opt/hpremote/hpsender and made a copy of it in /etc/opt/hpremote/hpsender.

Here's the error:

Unable to connect to Sender.

The Receiver resolved the specified hostname or IP address, but cannot connect to the Sender. Verify that the system is accessible on your network and that the Remote Graphics Sender service has been started. Be sure the Sender is listening on a public IP address and is not blocked by a firewall.

I can SSH into this machine no issue, so I know it's not something simple like that.

Hi Emmoore,

My first guess would be your firewall.

RGS listens on TCP port 42966. HP Velocity, though, needs UDP.

Could you check that your firewall is allowing both protocols, if you are trying to connect with HP velocity enabled?
