Greetings All
My printer has stopped printing. The external symptoms are:
- You submit a job.
- The printer spins up and the outlet door opens.
- The front panel displays Now Printing.
- Nothing actually prints. There’s two slightly variant behaviours here:
- After a few minutes the outlet door closes and nothing prints, leaving Now Printing on the screen.
- After a few minutes a blank page prints.
To isolate this from the rest of my environment I did the following:
- Disconnected it from the network
- Reset it to the default settings
- Printed a status page using Setup > Print Reports > Print Status Report
The problem persists.
If I log in via the web UI the only sign of problems is this:
In short, it’s throwing error 74899. I contacted HP support and they’re unable to tell me what that error means. I’m hoping that someone here might. So:
- Has anyone seen this error before?
- Any idea what it means?
