Laserjet Pro P1606dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the HP Laserjet 1606dn printer.  It works great on Windows 7.

 

Recently I got a new laptop (Windows 10 64-bit).

 

Went through control panel -- add-a-printer -- installed this printer successfully.  However, I cannot find a way to print doublesided.  Checked the default driver that Windows 10 installed, that looked not right (HP LaserJet Mono PCLmS Class Driver).

 

So, I went to HP's support site, and downloaded hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v20120831-50157036_SMO.exe, which is what was indicated for 1606dn.  Double-clicked on this, and it goes through "extraction", but after that, it does not launch the installation utility.

 

i.e. it basically exits "extraction" without any error message and without launching the installation utility.

 

How may I get the correct driver for the 1606dn printer?

Please browse to C:\LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution on your compuer.

Double click on HpSetup.exe and follow the installation screen.

Duh, that fixed it, would have saved me a lot of time if I had posted this query here right away.

 

Anyway, will report back if I run into any further issues.
