I bought the 4003 dw for my office. I tried to refill it's cartridge, after that, my printer show "ready" status but it cannot print anything.

Hi @dtdung

Refilling the cartridge on the HP LaserJet Pro 4003dw is most likely the reason the printer shows “Ready” but does not print. This model uses chipped toner cartridges, and after refilling, the chip often fails to communicate correctly with the printer.

Please try the following:

1. Power Reset the Printer
Turn the printer off, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

2. Reseat the Toner Cartridge
Remove the refilled cartridge, check that it is seated correctly, and reinstall it firmly.

3. Test with a Genuine HP Cartridge
If possible, install an original HP 148A or 148X cartridge.
If the printer immediately starts printing, then the issue is confirmed to be caused by the refilled cartridge or its chip.

4. Check Print Queue & Default Printer
Make sure:

  • The printer is set as the default printer

  • There are no stuck jobs in the print queue

Important Note:
The HP 4003dw actively blocks many refilled or third-party toner chips. Even though the printer may show “Ready,” it will silently stop printing if the chip authentication fails.
