Laser Jet Pro MFP M281fdw
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with my new Printer  LaserJet Pro M281FDW than "0T73" :

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/Connection-problem-with-Laser-Jet-Pro-MFP-M281fdw/td...

But as the subject is closed, I open another one.

It seems that no simple solution has been found.

What can I do now.

I am starting to be totaly mad with this printer that works 3 days, and then can't print neither with my Mac  or my iphone  whereas "Wireless status reports" says  everything is all right.

I tried Static IP, updating the internal software and all that is writen in HP troubleshooting.

Sometimes it works and more often it doesn't work.

It seems to be a bad product.

Hello,

Finally I solved the problem in an expected way.

I don't use WIFI connection anymore. Such a mess.

I have installed an ethernet RJ45 connexion and it works fine.

Good luck.

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you need support and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Approximately how far is the printer located from the WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless or network icon on the printer display.

Thank you very much for your answer.

My Router is a Fast5330b-r1.

I don't have any antivirus an my Mac.

My printer is à 9 meters from my Router.

But I think I have understood the problem.

My router said I could merge 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz signal to have a better WIFI signal.

So I did it and suddenly the quality of my signal on the printer went from 2/5 to 4/5.

And it seems to work fine now. Let us see if it's going to last.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

Hello again, here are some news.

I think I understood what is the problem.

If I press on my Router a button to stop the WIFI and if I press again after a while to activate the WIFI, the printer connects without any problem but AIRPRINT disapears. Restarting the printer doesn't solve the problem. The PING doesn't work anymore.

To solve the problem, I have to change the name of my SSID in the router and then it is working again a long as I don't press the button on the router to stop the WIFI.

Sometimes, it's usefull to disconect the WIFI by pressing the button, and there was no problem with my former HP Printer.

Is it possible to correct this bug ?

Thank you for your help.

Normally bugs in WiFi router or in the wireless client chipsets/drivers/software could block multicast packet(Bonjour). Could you please contact your internet service provider or router manufacturer and make sure that the router is able to forward multicast packet.

I have the same printer and constantly having problems.  Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't.

It always either says "printer is in use" or "can't find printer".  The printer is on and connected to wireless with no problem.  I'm using a mac.

Just had this again.  It wasn't working, I powered off the printer then back on, then it printed the files currently in cue.

2 minutes later I tried to print another document and it says "the printer is not responding".

I tried updating the printer firmware but I this has not helped.
