Hi @Scribbles2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how it can feel a bit impersonal or confusing when your printers are just named “My Printer,” “My Printer 2,” etc. You're doing the right thing by seeking clarity, and I’m here to help.

This is the most effective method, as the HP Smart App often pulls the name directly from Windows.

  1. Open Settings: Search for "Printers & scanners" in your Windows search bar and open it.
  2. Select Printer: Find your LaserJet MFP and click on it, then select Manage.
  3. Printer Properties: Click on Printer properties.
  4. Rename: Under the General tab, delete the existing name and type your new nickname (e.g., "Office LaserJet" or "Home LaserJet") at the top.
  5. Save: Click Apply and then OK.
  6. Refresh: Close the HP Smart app and open it again to see the changes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day
