I need to reset my admin password on my M252dw.  I do not know the current admin password. I have attempted an NVRAM initialization many, many times by pressing and holding on the lower right quadrant, the right quadrant, lower left quadrant, the lower right and left quadrants at the same time. I have wiggled my fingers while pressing.  I have not see the message "Permanent Storage Init" on any attempt. I have also check to see if I can access the services menu after each attempt and always am prompted for a password. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @trackpad60,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you are having trouble resetting the admin password on your HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw printer, performing an NVRAM initialisation is a common method to reset the password and restore factory settings. Here is how you can perform NVRAM initialization:

Steps to Perform NVRAM Initialization on HP M252dw:

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Press and hold the bottom right quadrant of the touchscreen display.
  3. While holding the quadrant, turn the printer on.
  4. Continue holding until you see the message “Permanent Storage Init” on the display.
  5. Release the quadrant when the initialization message appears.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
