We did not capture your Operating System / version or your Printer Model --

You might not have told us or the data entry system left out the information.

There are generally three parts to printing these (or any) labels:

Personally, I'm not a fan of paper meant to be used in either Laser or InkJet printers.

Seems like a good idea to some, I guess.

The 5418 template appears to be standard (USA) Letter sized paper.  Easy and common.

-- Next --

Some general non-printer-specific places to recheck / adjust  include one and more of the following.

The label template form comes in more than one flavor, including

Word (.doc), PDF, Apple Pages

Word requires that (for Windows) you have installed the full driver printer software.

PDF requires at least "an app for that", though, in general, the more robust your printing environment, the better (or at least less complicated) the results with printing.

PDF is generally a good choice for printing labels --

When Exported to PDF, the content is somewhat "flattened" -- Text is still needful of translation but images are not treated the same as would be the case in the original Word (or other Office) document format.,

In every case, and perhaps more important when the paper type is intended for Laser OR InkJet, the printer must be aware of the paper size and type (loaded in the intake tray) -- Tray and Paper

The print surface on the labels is important.  Glossy, slippery, or otherwise unusual paper can product other than the expected results.

Labels generally include a lightly uneven surface, tiny changes between where there is "label" and where there is simply paper backing.  Printers do better with this sort of surface when the printer is clean, tidy, and adjusted correctly for the paper size and type.

-- Suggestions --

  • If you can, get paper that is meant for your printer hardware -- InkJet or Laser printer paper
  • Clean the Printer
  • Install the full driver printer software (relevant to Windows)
  • Windows -- Set the Printing Preferences Shortcut to General Everyday Printing
  • Remove other paper from the printer's intake tray
  • Load the paper according to the instructions in your printer's user guide
  • Adjust the Tray and Paper -- Set paper size / type to Letter (8.5 X 11") and Plain Paper

  • Consider using a PDF formatted file

and

  • Use Adobe Reader to print the label
