I'm afraid my beloved HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw is (finally) on its last legs after 7.5 years of service. While we would fight over thick envelopes and sometimes over 110 lb. cardstock, it's been a really great printer and I'd love to find something similar.

I used to have a small business designing and printing invitations and paper products for weddings and parties. While I don't do that, that will still be the new printer's primary function, just for personal use.

I've been reading blog and website articles and reviews and I'm currently looking at the Color LaserJet Pro M281fdw and the M477fdw. Does anyone in a similar printing (or not, I'm open to all suggestions) situation have experience with either of these printers? Other than quality of print, the two most important things I'm looking for is that I can dictate page sizes and not have to rely on presets and that it can handle cardstock.

Thanks!

the m477 is a heavier duty printer compared to the 281.  i've done work on a bunch of the m477 series and I can say they seem to be pretty good aside from normal maintenance.  I have seen a couple w/ fuser tearing problems but it seems isolated.
